Evaluating Impact Training Module 4: Telling the Story of your Data – Communicating your findings to key audiences

Evaluating Impact Training Programme is aimed at project staff, service leads, evaluation teams and funders in the public and community & voluntary/non-profit sectors who are delivering services to benefit communities and want to demonstrate the impact of their work.

It has been designed for those who need to understand the basics of evaluation and for those who need skills to design impact measurement frameworks, collect and analyse relevant data and report on the findings.

The fourth and final module of this training programme will build on the learning from 'Module 1: An introduction to Evaluation - Understanding the Essentials', 'Module 2: The Nuts and Bolts of Evaluation -what to evaluate and how' and 'Module 3: Making meaning from your data - Analysing the stories and statistics'. You will find out how to use your evidence to demonstrate that what you are doing is making a difference. You will learn how to communicate your impact effectively to funders, your community, the media and other stakeholders.

• Identify the purpose of telling the story of your data  

• Identify your key stakeholders and assess their needs and importance

• Identify the messages that are relevant to your stakeholders

• Understand the different ways to get your story across using different formats and styles

• How to build a communications plan

Who is it suited to?

This module is suitable for project staff, service leads and evaluation teams who work with data collected via evaluation and have responsibility for reporting impact.

What will I learn?

• A clear understanding of the purpose of communicating your evaluation findings, and the audiences you need to communicate with

• Thinking on what you want to get across in your communications and the different methods you can use for each audience and purpose

You will build a communications plan for your impact story.
