Bridge NI is Mental Health & Wellbeing Charity for women, which aims to deliver positive and engaging opportunities to women across Northern Ireland who are struggling, and assist them in resolving any problems which are having a significant negative impact on their life.
All women, at some point in their lives, will become overwhelmed with challenges outside of their control. Whether it’s financial difficulties, bereavement, separation from a partner, bullying, stress, or anything which can create a lasting feeling of helplessness or despair. Often these challenges can occur at a crucial point in a woman’s life, where they find themselves being isolated.
At Bridge NI, we strive to provide support to the women who seek our help by assisting them through any kinds of difficulties affecting their lives. We do this by running free programmes, with a mixture of activities, open for all ladies to attend.
The project began as a pilot scheme back in April 2021 with 18 ladies attending. Since then we have grown in numbers very quickly and now have four different groups operating in Cregagh, Inverary, Dundonald and Inner East Belfast offering programmes during the day and in the evenings.
The programmes include zumba, yoga, craft, mindfulness, flower arranging and much more. We offer taster sessions so that ladies can try out different activities, and should they enjoy them, we can signpost the members to other groups to follow up further with their interests.
We organise different trips throughout the year for example, we have been to the Titanic Museum, Ulster Museum 'Fashion to Ashes' exhibition, and paddle boarding at Castlewellan Lake. We like to give the ladies worthwhile challenges and push our boundaries!
We also offer an Employability Programme, advice on benefits and self-development, and in the New Year we are planning to offer two new six-week courses in Strength/Balance & Nutrition, and Digital Awareness.
Our programmes are posted on Bridge NI Facebook page and within the various community centres we meet in.
