The Implementation Network of Ireland and Northern Ireland had their 18th meeting on Friday 8th November 2019 in Dublin.
The keynote presentation was on the topic of ‘learning from structured implementation approaches to designing, implementing and evaluating innovations’. Two speakers from Tusla, the Child and Family Agency, shared their dilemmas, successes, and lessons learned from the implementation of The Prevention, Partnership and Family Support Programme. A key message from the presentation was the value of co-producing with children, young people, and families. A cross-sector panel discussion was held on the topic of ‘capacity building for implementation’. Three panelists from the Department of Education (Northern Ireland), The Probation Service, and CES shared their experiences and explored the different approaches and common challenges. The discussion featured insights from The Joint Agency Response to Crime (JARC), the Early Intervention Transformation Programme (EITP), and the Innovation Lab. Using data, involving service users, and celebrating successes and milestones were some of the practical examples of approaches that can enable implementation.

About the Implementation Network of Ireland and Northern Ireland
The network was established in 2011 to promote and share learning about effective implementation of policy and practice throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland. There are currently 110 members from across the island who come from backgrounds in government departments, public bodies, community and voluntary sector, research, and academic fields. The network meets twice a year and allows members to gather and exchange insights and experiences around implementation.
