A reflection on the European Implementation Collaborative Board (EIC) meeting

CES Senior Project Specialist Andrew Bray is a member and Treasurer of the Board of the European Implementation Collaborative.  CES was delighted to host the Board’s first in-person meeting in Dublin on 29 May. Here Andy tells us about how it went.

The European Implementation Collaborative Board is made up of implementation scientists and practitioners from across Europe and meets online to discuss all matters related to the EIC. However, once a year the Board comes together for an in-person meeting and this year the Board met in Dublin. Six of the Board were able to travel with two attending online.

We were fortunate this year to be hosted by CES who provided a meeting room and refreshments for the day. As it was the first time the Board had met in person, we took some time to get to know each other before progressing with the day’s business.

First up was a joint meeting with the European Implementation Event (EIE) planning team.

The EIE is a bi-annual event that brings together implementation researchers and practitioners from across Europe to discuss the latest development in implementation science. Last year we had a great event in Basle, Switzerland. (You can see the details here!) and next year we are heading to Newcastle Upon Tyne in the northeast of England.

This event is more than just a conference, it’s a chance to meet with fellow implementers, make new connections, learn and share as well as enjoy some fantastic social events. There is a particular emphasis on early career implementers with specific events organised. All the details are here for next year.

Next, we moved onto to discuss the EIC strategy and how we will implement the actions over the next year. There is some work to do and it's an exciting time for both the Board and the development of the EIC as an organisation that brings together the individuals and groups that make up implementation in Europe.

The in-person day was a great opportunity to meet up and not only progress the aims of the EIC but to get to know each other. Thanks to Leah Burhmann and Heather Rogers for organising the meeting and to my colleagues at CES for hosting the day.

If you’re not a member of the EIC yet and are interested in implementation, then you should join us! You can sign up here to receive our regular newsletter.
