Rebecca is a project specialist at CES working primarily in research and evaluation. She joined CES with the goal of further developing expertise in applied research methods and evaluation. She has expertise in qualitative research methodologies, thematic data analysis, participatory research and legal and policy analysis. Her research interests include children’s rights, child law, youth crime and she is particularly interested in evidence-based research as it relates to children and young people and their interaction with the law and/or statutory agencies.
Rebecca has worked on a number of national evaluations to date including the evaluation of the Local Community Safety Partnership pilot and the evaluation of the Supporting Traveller and Roma pilot project.
Rebecca holds a PhD in Law from the University of Limerick and was awarded the Honourable Justice John Murray Fellowship to carry out her research. She undertook her PhD as part of the Research Evidence into Policy, Programmes and Practice (REPPP) team as she sought to apply a legal perspective to a typically social science topic as she examined the ‘Management of challenging behaviour in Ireland’s special care system.’ Prior to joining CES, Rebecca worked as a lecturer (Child Law) and tutor in the University of limerick and has taught a range of over eight modules including youth crime, EU law and law of evidence.
