Introductory Guide to Implementation
This briefing, produced by CES in 2012, summarises the key terminology and concepts of implementation science. It lays out what implementation is, why it is important, and describes the core ideas such as implementation frameworks, stages, enablers and barriers. Short examples of successful implementation in Ireland, in both policy and practice settings, are used to illustrate these ideas.
This briefing summarises messages which appear consistently in the implementation literature, offering a useful introduction to those new to the field or those looking to refresh their understanding of the basic concepts.
