The next opportunity we have for you is the free Evaluating Impact Training Programme available to all National Lottery Community Fund grant holder organisations.

Good evaluation practice is a vital skill for organisations to be able to understand the difference they are making, and to share the story of their impact - with funders, others in the field, service users, and the public.

This practical online course is suitable for anyone in your project who has responsibility for service evaluation, using your findings to plan for the future, and reporting on your impact.

What you will get

By the end of this comprehensive course you will be able to develop a theory of change for your work, design an evaluation plan, collect and analyse your data, and share the story of your impact in a compelling way so that people listen.

You will be given practical tools, templates and exercises to use in your own real world situation.

  • Indicators

Module 2. The Nuts & Bolts of Evaluation 

  • What to evaluate at different stages of your work 
  • Data gathering methods 
  • Qualitative and quantitative evaluation
  • Developing an evaluation plan​ 

Module 3. Making Meaning from Your Data 

  • Working with quantitative data ​ 
  • Working with qualitative data 

Module 4. Telling the story of Your Data 

  • The who, why, what, how and when of telling a compelling story about your impact and learning 
  • Assessing the needs of your stakeholders 
  • Constructing a communications plan 

You can choose how many modules you want to do and complete the training at your own pace.

When you can access it

The training is free to you as members of The Learning Exchange Network and is available in April, May and August.

Enrolment opens on 1 April 2026 and is also available during May and August 2026.

How to enrol

To access the training, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to: https://eco-training.moodlecloud.com
  2. Click ‘Create new account’ and register with your details.
  3. Once logged in, click on the module you wish to complete.
  4. When prompted for an enrolment key, enter: LEN2026
  5. Click ‘Enrol me’ — you will have 90 days of access from the date you enrol.

You can enrol in as many modules as you wish. Each module can be accessed individually and completed in any order, or you can enrol in the Full Bundle to access all 4 modules at once.
