New online platform connects teachers with research
Over the past five years CES has engaged in a partnership with the Teaching Council and the National Council of Curriculum and Assessment on how to support and build capacity of teachers to use evidence and research in their work. Consultations and events have taken place to engage teachers in discussions about their research needs.
In early December the TREX (Teacher Research Expertise Exchange) was launched. TREX is an online forum which will connect teachers, researchers and other educational stakeholders and will also support teachers and student teachers to disseminate their research. T-REX will build on the work led by Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, University of Limerick and NUI Galway over the past two years in enhancing teachers’ engagement with and in research.
Speaking about the initiative, Tomas O’Ruairc, Director of the Teaching Council said:
This platform will enable teachers to connect with others on topics of interest and relevance to them and their learners’ needs, to talk about and reflect on the latest insights from research, and receive the support of a growing professional community both locally and nationally.
